Cosmo Chrome Marble Base Floor Lamp

Cosmo is the loud one. An arc floor lamp standing 183cm tall, a polished chrome curve rising from a solid black marble base, high shine metal that picks up every light in the room. For a retro glam lounge or a modernist apartment, this is the lamp that does the talking.

Chrome and how it behaves
A matte black floor lamp disappears against a dark floor. A chrome floor lamp does the opposite. It mirrors the rest of the room: the ceiling light, the window behind you, the lamp across the couch. It becomes part of how the space reads at night. That quality is why chrome reads mid-century or 1970s in tone, and why it needs room to breathe. Keep the surrounding surfaces calmer so Cosmo does not fight with other strong pieces.

The arc and the marble base
Cosmo weighs 9.7kg assembled, and the 32cm marble base does the quiet work. It counterweights an arc that carries the shade about 70cm out, measured pole centre to shade centre, far enough to sit over a couch or a reading chair. The shade is a 30cm chrome dome, a polished pot lid open underneath, so light tends to drop onto what is below rather than wash the room. Stand a metre away and the curve shows you back to yourself.

Sits best
Over a light or mid toned couch in a lounge with high ceilings. Give it floor space: 102.7cm wide, shade edge to the outer edge of the base. Not a lamp for a tight corner. 183cm wants 2.7m of ceiling to feel proportioned, though it still works under 2.4m if the furniture below is generous in scale. Takes a single E27 globe, warm white LED for preference, globe not included. In a modern retro bedroom, keep Cosmo the one statement piece and skip other shiny metal fixtures.
